The current pandemic situation demands quick and efficient construction of spaces for isolation and closely monitored treatment. Several COVID positive patients stashed into a single room is undesirable now, as home isolation has proved to be a much better alternative and has channeled faster recovery. In isolation, the patient turns to nature as a source of therapy. Thus, the space designed for quarantine incorporates this engagement with nature, using most primary senses, for a faster healing experience.

The isolation wards are provided with a meditative environment, inculcating activities that keep the patient relaxed. There is a provision of a meditation room attached to every ward, where the patient can experience the passage of time through the slit provided strategically on the south wall. The remote controlled opening in the roof provides a wind-operated pipe organ which acts as an excellent music therapy. Right in front of the bed, the sliding glass doors give a picturesque view of the contoured site and open into a private lush courtyard. The landing before the courtyard is covered with acupressure mats for a relaxing feel.

The division of the wards is done such that the most severe cases are at the top most contours. Below that come the moderate and mild case wards. Towards the lower contours lie the independent testing center, a clinic, resting areas for medical personnel and other necessary facilities. Donning and doffing areas with segregated waste disposal facilities are provided in each isolation ward, ensuring that all social distancing norms are followed.

This modular arrangement is the perfect response to the need of an isolation which is engaging and efficient at the same time.
